We we’ll go to Piana degli Albanesi, a small town in the province of Palermo, one of the most important arbëreshë communities present in Sicily. We will introduce you to the history of a one-of-a-kind community. From the end of the 15th century, following the Ottoman invasions in the Balkan peninsula, a large number of Albanian refugees sought refuge in southern Italy, bringing with them their traditions and their language. Thus was born Piana dei Greci, then called Piana degli Albanesi from 1941. A small village surrounded by splendid nature with a lake and many curiosities to discover.
